Job Summary
The Division of Epidemiology within the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Utah, seeks a Senior Research Analyst to conduct advanced statistical analyses of qualitative and quantitative data and interprets results; participates in study design; writes research proposals, grants and manuscripts; and, works to broaden research within the TORCH Program. The incumbent will support research projects associated with the TORCH Lab led by Dr. Pugh (https://medicine.utah.edu/internalmedicine/epidemiology/research\_programs/torch/).
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
1. Conducts systematic reviews and evidence synthesis.
2. Conducts Delphi panel methodology.
3. Oversees/conducts statistical analyses, employing methods of descriptive statistics, sample comparisons, regression analysis.
4. Assists with study design development and other research as needed within the program or department.
5. Formats data for statistical analysis.
6. Manages data statistical packages ( SAS , S-Plus, SEERstat, SPSS ) and writes procedures in applicable program.
7. Makes recommendations to respective Principal Investigator (PI) as to preferable methods of analysis and research formats for proposed projects; may act as the PI in some departments.
8. Writes research proposals, grants, and manuscripts; directs preparation of manuscripts and presentation materials.
9. May devise methods and procedures for collecting data.
10. May prepare and maintain regulatory documents associated with studies.
11. May supervise junior research staff.
Problem Solving
The incumbent is responsible for coordinating research while working with all levels and variety of staff internally and externally to the University. They must employ expertise to determine the most favorable research formats and methods of analysis necessary to attain research objectives. This individual is responsible for all decisions related to a specific research project including the development of survey methodologies, and may have signatory authority over all aspects of the grant or contract.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalency; plus four years related research experience, and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required.
A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
