Oracle Sr Director, Business Operations & Planning in Salt Lake City, Utah

Manage people for product development programs or projects focused on the delivery of a product through the design process, and into a finished state for external customers.

Manage people for product development programs or projects involving department or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of a product or computer-based system through the design process, and into a finished state for external customers. Plan and direct resource schedules as well as project budgets. Monitor the product/program/project from initiation through delivery, interfacing with customer on technical matters. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the product/program/project on schedule and within budget constraints. Assign and monitor work of systems analysis and program staff, providing technical support and direction. Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Directs and ensures the implementation of operational policies through subordinate managers. Interacts internally and externally with executive management, providing negotiation of difficult matters to influence policy. Functional expertise and broad company knowledge important. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development and product management. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area preferred. Eight or more years of project management, product design or related experience preferred.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Senior Director of Program Management to scale and lead the product and engineering teams to deliver quality product on time. You will be responsible for leading the strategy and efforts to scale, automate, and create efficiencies throughout the engineering organization. This is a fast-paced team that is innovating and delivering services in a cloud native environment. OCI is central to multiple businesses within Oracle, and cross organizational collaboration is common. We are looking for a leader that can thrive in this environment and provide a predictable delivery model across multiple different programs. You have a proven track record driving process improvement throughout an organization and the ability to lead execution while the product suite is growing and evolving.

Responsibilities

You will lead a multiple teams and be responsible for a wide variety of services related to data center operations. Your team is responsible for building strong partnerships and working in tandem with internal teams like Finance, Internal Audit, Compliance, Procurement, Information Security, HR, and Recruiting to improve operations, compliance, budget management, development of org-wide policies and risk management. You will lead the financial rhythms of the business by coordinating the development of the annual operating plan, assisting in the forecast and capitalization process, conducting of financial analysis after month end close, and providing guidance to senior management. Your team operates in a fast-paced, global, results-oriented environment and requires the ability to influence the decisions of senior business leaders through effective verbal and written communication, logical reasoning, and the presentation of alternatives. Responsibilities Include:

  • Overall ownership for the software planning, execution, and delivery processes. Define the execution frameworks used across teams and drive continuous process improvement.

  • Lead a team of program managers who work across different product areas.

  • Lead the team in creating scalable methods, best practices, and relevant KPIs. Develop and mentor the team in order to build strong leadership skills.

  • Develop reporting mechanisms that are scalable and consistent across the organization.

  • Recommend and drive the usage of tools for reporting and tracking program execution.

  • Foresee dependencies, risks, and issues - build the appropriate program framework for projects and programs to deliver high quality.

  • Lead cross-company collaboration initiatives.

  • Define, drive, and lead program review meetings and SoS meetings.

  • Get involved in anything that will help the organization thrive (whether a big project or small task).

Minimum Qualifications

  • 15 years in technical program management for Cloud, SaaS, or software applications for an enterprise software company

  • Experience in building and scaling a program management team

  • Experience in managing large, cross-company, complex projects with multi-function teams is preferred.

  • Experience working with and communicating program status to executive leaders.

  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands.

  • Proven experience taking large releases/programs from planning to launch

  • Outstanding team player with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally

  • Strategic thinker and planner

  • Excellent presentation and written communication

  • BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area.
