Retention Director

As a Retention Director, the ideal candidate will need to study and understand the subscription business, best practices for retaining current customers, engaging expired customers, and become an expert on all the things that we offer. You will be responsible for helping retain customers throughout the customer lifecycle. You will also work directly with various internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, department managers, development, and marketing teams to ensure successful campaigns. The ideal candidate will successfully strategize, carry out, and deliver on a comprehensive strategy to ensure that customers are retained and engaged.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Define, prioritize, and carry out cross-platform communication strategies

  • Stay current with the latest marketing trends and best practices

  • Work with various agencies to enhance the customer experience

  • Manage the retention team and delegate tasks to multiple members of that team

  • Responsible for one on one meetings with team members and more extensive planning and brainstorming sessions

  • Maintain the functional quality of the work being delivered by setting and evaluating expectations and acceptance criteria

  • Communicate priorities based on well-defined and measured business cases

  • Establish goals and metrics to measure effectiveness after each campaign, then monitor and report on progress

  • Work with other key stakeholders to understand use cases, requirements, business, and strategic objectives

  • Ability to manage multiple teams and individuals within those teams

  • Define strategy and delegate responsibilities across the organization

  • Create and monitor OKRs and communicate those across the organization

  • Ability to travel to necessary customer and partner meetings

  • Passion for creating compelling communication strategies

  • Excellent digital and in-person communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while ensuring quality deliverables

Education/Experience of the Retention Director:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Marketing or Business Management

  • 5+ years of experience managing a subscription business

  • Previous experience with subscription business retention strategies

  • Previous experience working with subscription tools including Stripe
